Derek Jeter ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at the ballpark as the Jefferson
Park Penguins beat the Lewisville Fire Ants 9 to 7.
Jeter enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the latter
innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He doubled in the 1st inning,
hit a single in the 2nd inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run in
the 5th inning and smashed a two-run homer (his 22nd of the season) in the
7th inning. A wild affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.
Juan Rincon(10-4) got the win allowing 1 run in 2 innings. Rincon got help
from Armando Benitez who was credited with his 20th save. Chad Cordero(4-5)
ended up with the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and no walks in 2
innings.
'I was really seeing the ball today,' Jeter said 'I wish it was always this
easy.'
